Beacon Basics
Every beacon includes a GPS receiver, a cellular modem and a processor that controls the beacon's features. Over the last few years, technological advancements have improved all aspects of GPS beacons.
Today's beacons benefit from such key features as:
- Smaller size
- Reduced cost
- Longer battery life
- Improved location accuracy
- Faster Time To First Fix (TTFF)
- Higher signal yield (translation: better able to calculate a position when in a challenging signal environment)
Future beacon models will have similar dramatic performance improvements, while continuing to see declines in cost and size.
